Nkechi N. Nkenke graduated from San Jose State University with a dual degree in Behavioral Science and Sociology. During her time at SJSU, she made it a point to assimilate herself with a variety of extracurricular activities and organizations.

Nkechi continued her Spartan allegiance at Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school, she completed a certification program in Child and Family Advocacy. She was also given the opportunity to travel to London and attend a seminar called Lawyering in the 21st Century at the University of Westminster. During her law school career, she also interned for the Honorable Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane at the Fulton County Superior Court – Family Law Division, Attorneys for Indigent Mothers (AIM), and worked as a Clinician for the Chance at Childhood Clinic. Nkechi gave back while at MSU Law when she served as a Mentor to incoming 1st year students as a member of the Black Law Students Association and worked on the Board of the Student Bar Association.

After law school, she cultivated her skills where she worked at some of the most prominent family law firms in the Bay Area as an associate attorney. Before beginning her own practice, she worked as an associate attorney wherein she exclusively handled the successful distribution of multi-million dollar marital estates, complicated child custody and visitation issues, and even adoption. During her time as an associate attorney, Nkechi excelled in writing pleadings that captivated the Courts and ultimately decided in the favor of her clients. On her writing alone, Nkechi has ushered in favorable Court orders for her clients. She strives to do a job to the best of her ability and as swiftly as possible in consideration of costs to her clients.

As an associate attorney, she enjoyed family law but noticed that the firms she worked with emphasized trial and heavy court involvement. Nkechi, on the other hand, felt like litigious cases and heavy court involvement would only cost the client more money, stress, and unhappiness. Nkechi wanted to focus on a practice that assisted clients with their family law matters while avoiding heavy court involvement. With that, she started Better Way Family Law Practice in July 2021 and brings an immense amount of passion for family law. With her empathetic and personable approach, Nkechi is able to navigate often contentious cases in a direction that clients feel guided and protected. Nkechi manages the sensitive issues in family law with the mindset of obtaining the best result possible for her clients while also encouraging settlement and eventual resolution each family law matter.
